The weather was nice and warm, so I went downtown for a quick lunch. I had a hankering for a JapaDog. JapaDog has become a bit of a chowhound icon in downtown Vancouver.
I had the Oroshi (with Daikon Relish). It hit the spot.

From Newtown Bakery |
I was in Chinatown for lunch at a new Pho place which was nothing special to
post about so I won't...but I did stop in at a longtime favorite place to get Chinese and Filipino-Chinese baked goods.
You won't get the same range as Goldilock's Bakery (the famous Filipino Bakery) where they specialize in the Spanish-influenced pastries, shortbreads, and similar (eg San Rival, Brasos de Mercedes, Polvoron, etc.). Here, you will get the Chinese-influenced steamed goods- Sio Pao (Char Siu Bao), Steamed Cakes, etc. There is also a small lunch menu that features congee, soups, and noodles.
The prices are close to the best in the city, and the quality is pretty high.
